Special edition of La Table Introvertie at FIAC [2008-12-07]



For ToolsGalerie in Paris we designed a special edition of La Table Introvertie from the Asylum Collection. This edition has a blank inside and has an outer epoxy coating. There are six colour variations of the coating. The table is made in a limited series of 8 and is exclusively sold through ToolsGalerie

Remnant chair at Dutch Design Week [2008-10-16]

New chair [2008-10-16]



Prototype of a low armchair designed for a private client. The chair is intended not only for sitting but to be lived in: its low, wide seat beckons the user while the upturned profile creates a feeling of being cradled. The construction and detailing of the chair is on display while the simplicity of the design of the frame belies its complexity.

The cushions are upholstered with remnant fabrics salvaged from local furniture upholsterers. In this way, the composition and identity of every chair will always be unique. As opposed to the whole chair or sofa needing to be re-upholstered after wear and tear, a patchwork of fabrics means only that particular worn-out section needs to be repaired. As each piece of fabric is replaced, the memory of the chair and its life is stored in the patchwork of remnants as time goes by. I called the chair remnant chair.

By request of energy company Essent, Sophie Schijf, organised an exhibition which shows the connection between the different forms of Energy and Product Design. She asked 13 product designers to show designs and products based on a direct relationship with the different phenomena of energy. Besides the light, the electrical-, mechanical- and warmth-energy, the mental energy plays an important role in the process of designing. This energy is essentiel to design and create something new and something surprising. The exhibition DESIGN ENERGY gives an interesting impression of this creative and energetic process by designs and products of the following experienced and promising designers. Presentation of the Joop Hartog Dissertation Award [2008-01-28]



The Universiteit van Amsterdam commissioned us to design the Joop Hartog Dissertation Award. This award is established by the University in recognition of Joop Hartog's 25 years as professor of microeconomics at the Faculty of Economics and Business. The award will be presented every two years.
