Bamboo Windsor Chairs to be launched at London Design Festival [2012-09-10]
Our new Bamboo Windsor Chairs, designed in collaboration with Bamboo-architect Olav Bruin, will be presented at Connecting the Dots during London Design Festival.
The aim of the Bamboo Windsor Chair is to re-examine the reputation and aesthetic of bamboo furniture, and to use the inherent qualities of the natural material bamboo to create mass products that are all individual. The design is a contemporary interpretation, of the all-time western classic windsor chair, made with Asian craftsmanship and materials: in this way east merges with west.

The Slow White series will be part of Exhibition Dream Box by Elizabeth Leriche at

About the exhibition:
Gentle madness
A disconcerted, disconcerting age is exploring the strangeness of imaginary worlds. Dreams and nightmares are teleporting us into disturbing parallel realities in which our desires and fears are transformed. Optical illusions, losing our bearings, outsized objects, an upside-down world, distortions and other black magic a phantasmagoria that enchants and bewitches. The house is experiencing the ready-to-dream.

Series of Kids' Furniture to be launched at Dutch Design Week [2011-10-19]
Bo Reudler Studio will present the Kids Furniture series during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven 22-30 October 2011. The exhibition forms part of a design auction organised by the World Wildlife Fund that will be held in the Klokgebouw, Strijp-S.
A wooden furniture series for children. The collection is composed from elemental shapes and basic materials, built in an intuitive, playful way. The series comprises a table and chair, rocking horse, wheelbarrow and dolls cradle.
The objects are hand made from solid oak finished with a coating of natural oil and soft colorful footings of woollen felt. The edges of the furniture retain the original curves of the trunk or branch enabling every piece to be unique.
The wood originates from fallen Dutch trees that are sawn in the traditional wind-powered sawmill Het Jonge Schaap situated in the Zaanse Schans, Zaanstad.
The Kids Furniture series was realized with the generous support of
Het Jonge Schaap and
Jantien Ranzijn & vdr.
The design
exhibition and auction organized by the
World Wildlife Fund will be held from 22-30 October 2011 in the Klokgebouw on the Strijp-s terrain. Buyers can bid for the products online via e-bay or via auction forms at the exhibition. The proceeds of each sale will be donated to a WWF project as nominated by the buyer. The exhibition is open daily from 12-18:00pm.

invitation: B29 Lecture #1 | Gerald Lindner on generative design [2011-03-21]
Creating designs using generative and parametric design tools.
These new tools help us manipulate and manage complexity in
design and engineering – be it in geometry, patterning, inter relations,
fabrication or reaction to environmental stimuli. But more importantly,
the insights they help us create change our perspective on reality
opening up exciting new doors and design opportunities.
Two short lectures; the first more general, illustrated by student research
work from the Technical University of Eindhoven, the second more
specific on use in structural and architectural design hope to give you
a good idea of how these techniques might help you create innovative designs.
Gerald Lindner is engineer at cc-studio
Bas Wijnbeld is engineer at ABT

Haute Bamboo series to be launched in Milan [2010-03-29]
For the Haute Bamboo series we joined forces
with bamboo-architect Olav Bruin.
Haute Bamboo picks up where the Slow White series by Bo Reudler Studio
left off: it continues the quest to renew our connection with nature, guided by
natural forms in an intuitive way.
While bamboo is among our fastest renewable resources, itʼs often
considered a poor man's timber. With this series, we wanted to re-examine
the aesthetics of bamboo furniture. The curves of 'Bambusa Ventricosa' are
caused by a rare mutation in the bamboo producing strikingly bulbous stalks.
The bulging forms give personality to each piece which will always be different
due to the randomness of each stalk. A coating of glossy black linseed-oil
paint references eastern lacquered furniture, binding the origin of the material
with its outcome. All products are hand made.
The Haute Bamboo series will be lauched during Fuori Salone Milan 14-19
April 2010
Tuttobene, Via Savona 18.
Read more about the pieces in the
Product section on this site.

materialistic mentality replacing it with the materialisation of modest earth-bound and
recomposed matter.
In the aftermath of the worst financial crisis in decades, a period of glamorous and
streamlined design for design!s sake comes to an end. A new generation of designers retrace
their roots, refine their earth and research their history, sometimes going back to the
beginning of time.
In this process, they form and formulate design around exactly these natural and sustainable
materials, favouring timber, hide, pulp, fibre, earth and fire; like contemporary cavemen, they
reinvent shelter, redesign tools and manmade machines, and conceptualise archaic rituals for
a more modest, contented and contained lifestyle. Like a Fred Flintstone of tomorrow.
Bone structures give quality to pre-historic dwellings and millennial designs imitating the
organic process of growth. Hand-blown glass and hand-thrown pottery will dominate the table
of the future, presenting even slower food with forgotten vegetables and just local and
seasonal produce.
In general, materials will be matte and humble, however the earth and its hidden riches also
invites this generation to employ minerals, alloys and crystals; adding lustre and sometimes
even sheen to these fossil-like concepts and constructions. At times these designs will echo
the essence of the arte povera movement which is bound to make a revival – soon.
Nature is a dominant ingredient in this movement, although no longer used in a naïve and
aspiring ecological language, but as a mature philosophy fit for a newer age. Raising the
questions that need to be raised…
Can we do with less to become more?
Can design have a soul and therefore be animated?
Can man find a more meaningful way to consume?
Can we break with the past and reinvent the future?

New studio space in Amsterdam! [2009-11-24]
Since september we have a great new studio space in Amsterdam. The 13th of November we had a proper inauguration.
Our space is part of B29 Studios, a new collective atelier located in Bos en Lommer, Amsterdam.
Comprising 15 independent design studios, B29 was founded in 2009 by both emerging
and established design professionals who are well respected in the industry. B29 is
housed in a former technical high school, the whole building of which has now been
converted solely into studios for creatives.
The diverse creative disciplines of the atelier encompasses design – product, interior,
exhibition, theatre, graphic/communication design – to architecture, engineering,
photography and design journalism/PR. Uniquely, alongside commercial clients, there is
a strong base of community and cultural clients within the studios.
While everyone is based in Amsterdam, the studio has an international outlook with
designers hailing not only from The Netherlands but also from Latvia, Denmark,
Australia, South Africa and Syria.

Slow White series in new book of Gestalten called
Once Upon a Chair. The release is mid September for the continental Europe and October for Uk, Asia, North America and Latin America.
Once Upon a Chair is an international up-to-the minute survey of contemporary furniture design. The book captures the zeitgeist of this rigorous industry by examining current trends and presenting pioneering examples by the world’s most influential designers and emerging talents. The collected works indicate a recognisable shift towards progressive responsible designs that make a social impact and the revival of artisanal craft. It further explores how designers are focusing more on process-driven and storytelling concepts as well as the continuing flirtation with material and technological experimentation.

The Slow White table and chair are on show in the Nhow Design Hotel, Milan, as part of their exhibition Con-Munication. 7 may till 31 october 2009.
The new exhibition at Nhow hotel is dedicated to communication today and at the way the final messages of communication are increasingly drifting away from their original content. The floors of the hotel become thus the pages of an unwritten book, where art and design are to express and expose the different expressive levels of con-munication.
The design hotel Nhow is part of an impressive reconstruction project of an industrial building in the South of Milan. It is situated in Via Tortona 35.

New product for Toolsgalerie [2009-02-02]
For
ToolsGalerie in Paris we designed a new carpet called Equus. It will be exclusively available through ToolsGalerie in a limited edition of 8.
A horse hide is cut with a graphic pattern made of the Fleur-de-Lis, an enduring symbol of France and a motif commonly found on antique Dutch ceramic tiles. The pattern punched out of the rug creates open sections like enlarged lace, at the same time suggesting decay as it looks like the Fleur-de-Lis have been slowly eating into the hide. Contrary to convention, this carpet is not meant to cover or hide your floor but to start an interaction with it. The striking pattern is the connection in between, closing or opening to reveal what's underneath.

Daniel Schweizer.

New chair [2008-10-16]
Prototype of a low armchair designed for a private client. The chair is intended not only for sitting but to be lived in: its low, wide seat beckons the user while the upturned profile creates a feeling of being cradled. The construction and detailing of the chair is on display while the simplicity of the design of the frame belies its complexity.
The cushions are upholstered with remnant fabrics salvaged from local furniture upholsterers. In this way, the composition and identity of every chair will always be unique. As opposed to the whole chair or sofa needing to be re-upholstered after wear and tear, a patchwork of fabrics means only that particular worn-out section needs to be repaired. As each piece of fabric is replaced, the memory of the chair and its life is stored in the patchwork of remnants as time goes by.
I called the chair remnant chair.

Opening of DESIGN ENERGY [2008-03-17]

Lamp Sisyphe at DESIGN ENERGY [2008-03-17]
By request of energy company Essent, Sophie Schijf, organised an exhibition which shows the connection between the different forms of Energy and Product Design. She asked 13 product designers to show designs and products based on a direct relationship with the different phenomena of energy. Besides the light, the electrical-, mechanical- and warmth-energy, the mental energy plays an important role in the process of designing. This energy is essentiel to design and create something new and something surprising. The exhibition DESIGN ENERGY gives an interesting impression of this creative and energetic process by designs and products of the following experienced and promising designers. Boudewijn van der Poel, Dick van Hoff, Elske Revelman de Vries, Georgios Maridakis, Jaromir Maas, Jelmer Zijlstra, Laurens van Wieringen, Martijn Wildekamp, Rogier Sterk, Sander Luske, Sander van der Haar, Seroj de Graaf en Bo Reudler. Diner de Midas for 20th anniversary of Residence [2007-09-24]
For their 20th aniversary the magazine Residence choose us and 19 other Dutch designers to celebrate their birthday with. Seroj and I were asked to design a product for on a table. Inspiration was the opulent paintings of table's of the dutch golden age. Our starting point was the story of mythical king Midas who transformed everything he touched in gold. Even his kids and his food. We made moulds of fruit and vegatables, placed this food in different combinations and compositions on vintage ceramic bowls and covered them partly with 24-carat gold. This bowl is made in a limited edition of 50 pieces.

EX-IS art festival: The Anatomical Clock [2007-03-12]
At the 9th of march the premiere of the performance Anatomische Klok of
Sebastiaan Kral will take place at the Ex-is art festival in The Hague, The Netherlands. Dance by Pablo Fontdevila, design by Bo Reudler. Check
www.ex-is.nl
The goal of the performance was to make a clock, which at the same time is a portrait of the human body, and more so, a portrait of man standingup to, and struggling with time. Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man and Christ on the cross formed the inpiration for the performance.
We designed an object which caused the shadow of an antique rococo tableclock on the wall. This shadow Pablo could use as a reference and context. The object I called anti-shadow. That also the reason why the object is white. The slice is made from two layers of lasercut wood. The leg is carved from massive wood and is coated with a layer of real copper.
